It’s Emily and Ricardo’s Wedding Day!!!

18 Jun

Emily and Ricardo are about as cute of a couple as can be.  He’s from Brazil, she’s from California and today, in the walled garden at San Diego Botanic Garden they will be married.  The couple will use the natural beauty of the gardens paired with a very fun upscale BBQ theme to create an “only in San Diego” affair for their guests, many who have traveled from Rio to celebrate this special occasion.  Many, many congratulations to Emily and Ricardo!!!!

A special thank you to Photography by Anjuli for sharing their engagement photos.

Real Wedding: Christina and Eddie

2 Mar

We had so much fun working with Christina and Eddie for their vintage winery wedding. The couple prepped for their wedding at The Dana and held the ceremony and reception at Orfila Winery.  There were so many special elements including pinwheel placecards, mason jar favors and cotton candy!

US Grant Royal Wedding Showcase

28 Feb

Yesterday was my absolute favorite bridal show of the year, the US Grant Royal Wedding Showcase.  This is the show where event designers, wedding planners, florists and more bring out their A game to showcase fresh designs for San Diego brides and grooms.  We were thrilled to to be invited to participate and put together a tablescape inspired by modern romance.

A special thanks to Blush Botanicals for their amazing floral design, JMC Events for lighting the space with uplighting and pinspotting, Concepts Event Design for the linens and chairs and Classic Party Rentals for the settings. Photo by Bryan N. Miller.

What to Do with All Those Flowers?

5 Nov

Chances are after your wedding you will have lots of flowers left over.  Sure grandma might want to take a few arrangements home but with many brides and grooms having guests come in from out of town, most weddings I am always left with several centerpieces and alter arrangements at the end of the night.

Do you ever wonder what happens with these flowers?  Or what you can do with them to make a difference?  Sure my condo would look great with flowers all over the place (kidding!) but there are so many great things that you can do post wedding with the flowers that can brighten someone else’s day.

My FAVORITE thing to do with flowers is to donate them to Blooms from the Heart, a local organization that brings the extra flowers to nursing homes, hospitals and other great venues where they will be appreciated.  I recommend  giving them a call to spread the joy.  And if your vases are rentals, have your coordinator drop the flowers off to them and they can use their vases to redesign arrangements.

If you have just one or two small pieces left, ask your coordinator if they know a local place to donate them.  Whenever I have a few centerpieces left, I usually take them over to a local nursing home or women’s shelter.  A good coordinator won’t keep the flowers for herself, but will donate them in your name.

Olga and Jeff’s Black and White Bahia Wedding

22 Aug

*please note that these are NOT professional photos.  I just want to give you a sneak peek at some of the details of this wedding.

Olga and Jeff celebrated their wedding on August 21st, 2010 at the beautiful Bahia.  They got married on the beach at Bahia and wanted to incorporate a black, white and red theme. Using subtle accents of red throughout the wedding, we were able to accomplish this dramatic color palate without outshining the natural beauty of the beach.

The bay was a perfect backdrop for the ceremony

Jeff and Olga asked all of their friends to sign rocks with well wishes and messages for their future together.

The reception, in the Del Mar room, featured a black and white theme with amazing rentals from Concepts.

The sweetheart table contrasted the rest through a white and red color scheme.

Cake provided by Extraordinary Desserts

Rose petals add a romantic feel to the cake table.

The rocks were compiled to symbolize the coming together of friends and family into their marriage.

Here’s the vendors we used:
Wedding Planner – First Comes Love
Venue – Bahia. Thanks to Kelly and Allison at Bahia for pulling this together.
Rentals – Concepts Event Design
Flowers – Blossom Design
